The United Republic of Tanzania is a country in central east Africa. The name “Tanzania”, is a combination of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, and was created when the two states united in 1964. Tanzania is home to the Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, as well as Lake Victoria (Africas largest lake), and Lake Tanganyika (Africas deepest lake). Tanzania also contains many large wildlife parks. Tanzania has a tropical climate, having its hottest periods between November and February, while the coolest period is between May and August.
