Joy’s Camp
Shaba - Kenya
New managers Jamie and Lara have settled in and created a peaceful atmosphere in the camp without compromising the level of service. The wildlife around the camp is now increasing as the rains have come to an end, and we have a new resident pride of lion with two cubs! We are very fortunate to have outstanding bird life and currently, there are even more than usual as the migratory species have returned. We have a new guide joining us, Diwan Singh, with over 35 years guiding experience and whose father used to guide Ernest Hemmingway!
Governors’ Camp
Masai Mara - Kenya
During the Christmas period Kenya experienced incredible rainfall, as much as 7 inches falling in one storm in the Mara. Fortunately our staff excelled once again and sheer hard work allowed our guests to continue enjoying game drives and the luxury safari camp life that they travel the world for. There were wonderful sightings of our resident prides of lion and their cubs and herds of several hundred elephant. Our fleet of Landrover 101's became indispensable! The Mara is looking stunning now and its contrasting scenery of green grass and blue skies is interrupted by a profusion of plains game, cats and wild flowers.
Apoka Safari Lodge
Kidepo Valley - Uganda
We have developed many fantastic walking trails, ranging from family excursions to long overnight odysseys visiting local tribal villages. Our current favourite seasonal walk follows along a meandering riverbed, strewn with massive smooth boulders, in a gorge deep below the savanna. Beyond overwhelming scenery and tranquillity, we have seen leopard hiding among boulders, grumpy buffalo, silent reedbuck drinking in the pools and tracks of brand new elephant calves. All of this on foot!
Tongabezi

Victoria Falls - Zambia

What a great start to the year - Tongabezi was listed on the Conde Nast Traveller, Gold List in January 2007 as one of top 100 places to stay in the world, with 100% for service! The Victoria Falls are filling up beautifully with the rains and everything is looking luscious and green. Tongabezi looks forward to welcoming your guests in 2007 and ensuring they have an unforgettable stay with us.
Garonga

Limpopo Province - South Africa

Recent rains (although thankfully no more freak twister storms!) have left the bush very thick, green and lush. Whilst not much game can be seen on the bush walks at the moment, game drives have made up for this with fantastic sightings! Sleep outs on the romantic open air deck continue to be a highlight, even with the rain we have had.

Jaci's Safari Lodge   Madikwe - South Africa

This is supposed to be my secret, so I am not going to give you exact quantities. See it as a chance to create your own unique mix!

One tip: the longer it’s stored the better it gets… and don’t worry when it starts to bubble!

Take fresh green chilies and garlic in equal quantities.

Chop as you choose.

Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil in equal quantities.

Mowani Mountain Camp   Damaraland - Namibia

You know the phrase “It’s a small world”? Recent guests from Germany sent us the following:
“Do you remember during the time we stayed in the Camp there was another couple from Germany? After talking with each other we found out that they live about 600 km away from us - and on the day we left they took a photo of us. Now the funny part is, some weeks later I got a call from an old colleague (who I have known for over 15 years) and she told me that the couple we met at Mowani was her sister and husband. It's unbelievable...the world is so small.”
Mowani Mountain Camp - a place where old friends meet - even if you don’t know it!
