Robin Pope Safaris
Luangwa - Zambia
Zambia is known as the “Real Africa” and Robin Pope Safaris, who operate in the South Luangwa, has become the benchmark of the five star experience that Zambia offers. With three safari camps, two houses and the famous Walking Mobile Safari already operating, Robin has now starting Bush Camping. Two nights, camping with a degree of comfort, and walking with top safari guides. This gives diverse experiences from the sensational Luangwa Safari House to Bush Camping in remote and wild areas.
Cottars 1920s Camp
Masai Mara - Kenya
Here at Cottars, our guides Douglas, Isaac, Simon and Bernard continue to provide exciting game drives as they follow the movements of the two prides of lion that live on our concession; almost all our guests have had at least one sighting of them. Back in the calm of camp, our new chef Joash adds flair and tropical flavours to our menus, our masseuses give relaxing Swedish massages and our new swimming pool refreshes and invigorates after a dusty (but eventful!) game drive. Finally, our community projects are thriving, especially our new primary school which is now attended by 125 Masai children.
Chongwe River Camp
Lower Zambezi - Zambia
A mad house at Chongwe as the first of three large face lifts is taking place. New pool, re-roofing chalets, new bar and lounge and a brand new two roomed suite all in the pouring rain! Good rain all over Zambia so the game viewing is shaping up nicely too. Chongwe has spearheaded the reclassification of a previous hunting area. It will be a new type of park area. Ostensibly a park but community owned. First of its kind in Zambia and very exciting.
Jaci’s Safari Lodge

Madikwe - South Africa

Jaci’s Safari Lodge has now been open for 7 years - the significance of this in respect of our staff is enormous…. Jaci’s Staff Trust owns 25.1% of the shares in the company owning both Lodges. All we ask from any staff member wanting to become a shareholder in Jaci’s (through the Jaci’s Staff Trust) is to work for 5 consecutive years - we are delighted to announce an additional 7 staff members are now proud members of our Jaci’s Staff Trust bringing the total to 12 newly empowered individuals. Jan and I firmly believe we could have no better shareholders than our staff who strive to ensure every guest staying at Jaci’s has the most incredible and memorable African Safari experience.
Semliki Safari Lodge

Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve - Uganda

We were delighted to learn that Semliki made it into Tatler Magazine 101 Places to Stay (January ‘07 edition). The serenity of the forest, the eternity of the views, and the wonderful adventures that our guests experience seem to linger in the mind long after leaving! On the wildlife front, the chimpanzee project has been yielding excellent results, with guests spending increasing amounts of time watching the chimps in the forest - a fantastic experience for even the most seasoned safari guest.

How's That!
Benguerra Lodge Ilha de Benguerra - Mozambique

A few years ago Benguerra Lodge decided to turn an old Dhow into a beautiful beach bar. It was a huge task, we had to wait for spring high tide and it took 60 lodge staff a couple of hours in the hot Moçambique sun to pull the Dhow weighing 20 tons with ropes and rollers onto the beach. Imagine our amazement when this February, the winds from Cyclone Favio, howling along at speeds of 250 km/h, turned the Dhow 90 degrees before moving it 5 meters further down the beach, with the surface smoothly sandblasted!
