Tortilis Camp

Tortilis Camp is set in one of Amboseli’s Acacia Tortilis woodlands, after which the camp has been named. The inspiration of Stefano Cheli, Tortilis Camp is the result of 21 years of traditional safari experience, having earned an unrivalled reputation for charm and attention to detail.

Tortilis is an elegant small lodge nestled on the side of LIimbarishi Hill with magnificent views across the plains to the highest free standing mountain in the world, the Kilimanjaro. Its beautifully designed tents are large and spacious, with king or twin beds and elegant ensuite bathrooms. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs.

Guests at Tortilis Camp have access to both the famous Amboseli National Park, and the 30,000 acre Kitirua private conservancy adjoining the park. Guests can enjoy game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals in complete privacy.
There is an abundance of game within the Amboseli ecosystem that concentrates during the dry season around the spring fed swamps of the park. These swamps, with sedge grass and stands of papyrus, provide an important food supply for the grazing species, especially buffalo and elephant. The elephants in Amboseli are some of the finest 'tuskers' to be found in Kenya today and are the basis of the longest-running elephant study in Africa.

All of the Tortilis Camp guides delight in sharing with clients their local knowledge, especially of the elephant families and their histories and to point out the special flora and fauna of this breathtaking area. They impart their inherited knowledge of the bush, traditional medicine and folklore and encourage visitors to take a practical interest in the environment.
