Wolwedans is a stunning cluster of safari camps – all cuddled up in the dunes of the Namib Desert. Its dry, thirsty landscape is stark and dramatic. The awe-inspiring location just begs guests to photograph it until their camera batteries run dry. And recently, Wolwedans got sexy for the cameras too!
That Namib landscape was made even more beautiful when sexy supermodels adorned its sands while being photographed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 50 year Anniversary Edition. Cameras clicked away even more than usual in the desert and beauty of many varieties was captured
Jana, communications officer of Wolwedans told us more by saying, “After years of promoting our destination as a photo and film location, our efforts are now paying off. Wolwedans has been lucky to play host to a 25 head strong photo and video team in June 2012, including world famous celebrity photographer Kayt Jones and two of the SI supermodels, übersexy Adoara and Cintia. The team was staying at Wolwedans Dunes Lodge for 10 days and was out and about most of the day, repeatedly praising the favourable light conditions of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, where the shapes and forms of the desert can be seen to change in the light throughout the day – offering breathtaking backdrops for the famous bikini shoot.”
Jana went on to explain how all this attention would benefit Wolwedans and tourism in the region. She said, “As a member of Classic Safari Camps, we are proud of our sexy new ambassadors, the media attention spotlighting our strong commitment to sustainability in the form of our commitment to 4 C’s: Commerce, Conservation, Community and Culture.”
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 50 year Anniversary Edition hit the shelves on the 12th of February 2013 in the United States. Wolwedans just oozed with appeal and popped off the pages of those 70 million print copies.
Wolwedans has been the media’s destination darling lately with lots of other exposure and attention coming its way. It was featured in an episode of the German version of the tv series “The Bachelor” (Der Bachelor) recently when one of the couples were whisked away on a dream date to Wolwedans’ remote Boulders Safari Camp. An extensive and flattering article was published in Condé Nast Traveler featuring Wolwedans Private Camp too. It can be read here.
